Well, it is finally done. I can say that I have ran a half marathon! And let me
say that it was much harder than any of my training runs. For one, I ate
3 hours before we actually started the race and by mile 7 I had absolutely no
energy left. I was taking the gels like they were candy!! And second, those of
you who know me, know that I have a very hard time controlling my bladder,
especially while I run. Well, this was no different. 50 feet from the
port-a-potties, no kidding, I lost all of my control!! I ran off the side of the
road to try to get my pants down fast enough, but I was too slow!! The
only things I got from running off the side of the road was shoes full of tumble
weeds, scraped up legs and very wet pants. Yes it sucks, but what do you do?
Next time I am going to wear a depend!! I had to empty my shoes of the
weeds, and then they rubbed different and I got two huge blisters!!
So all in all, I was very disappointed in my time, it did not go at all like
I had thought it would. I am glad that it was not the full marathon,
so I can figure things out. Dan, my trainer, met me & Lin at mile 11.5 and
ran the rest of the way with us.
Heidi did awesome!! She finished at 2 hours 20 min.
I am so envious of her!!
Sarah did great as well. She struggled with the altitude a bit,
she only threw up 5 times!!! Poor thing!! She finished at 2 hours and 49 min.
Lin is my hero!!! We made a pact that no matter what we would stay
together!! She never once made me feel like I was holding her back
(even though I totally was)!! And when Dan came to run with us, I told her
to go and finish strong, and she would not leave me!! We are partners,
and she was the best partner EVER!!!
We finished at 3 hours 11 min!! Totally not what I wanted, but now I
have a time to beat on my next one...two weeks away!!
My mom and dad were cheering us on at mile 12, and the rest of my
family was all waiting at the finish line. Cody and Karlie ran through the
finish line with us!! It was so good to cross that line!!! And having all of
my family there made it even better!! Thanks to everyone for all of your
support!! The rest of the weekend was a lot of fun!! We drove some trails
on Sat night and on Sun we went to Arches and hiked to Delicate Arch!
It was awesome!!
The best part was that all of us runners were not that stiff!! Sarah's quads
hurt a bit, and Heidi & I are going to lose our toenails, but other than
that we were great!! It was beautiful. Well worth the 3 mile hike.
Dave was a trooper, and even though he was trying to get over pneumonia he
hiked as well!! It was extremely windy at the
arch, we had to hold on to the kids so they wouldn't blow away!
It was such a fun weekend!!
Mike you were missed!! Especially by me!!:)
Lin, Me, Dan, Sarah, Heidi
Hayley and I up at the top before the race.
Just before the race, drinking our protein shakes.
Dan took these pics of Sarah. He met her at
mile 12 and ran with her for about .5 mile before
coming to find Lin and I.

Go Sarah Go!! At the finish line.
Some how everyone missed Heidi!!
I am so sad, we have no pictures of
her running!!

Dan is the best trainer ever!!! Took these pics when he found us.
At least it looks like I am having fun!!
Finally!! The last part of the run. Cody
grabbed my hand and said "Come
on mom!! You can do it!"

This was our time, you can't see it very well.
