Ogden Marathon!

Well it is finally done!! A year in training, and now that it is over
we are sooo happy!! It was very long, obviously 26.2 miles, and
hard. I think the reason it was so hard was because 2 weeks before
the day of the race, I pulled my psoas muscle. I tried to get it
back to normal before we ran, thanks to Kari, she massaged and
stretched me every night, but no such luck. I had many, many
people tell me I should not run, it was no big deal, it wasn't worth
injuring myself further, it wasn't like I was quitting.
All of these statements are true, but I new that most likely I wouldn't
run another one, and even if I did, I certainly would not have my
sister's there with me. My dad would say that I am too stubborn and
wouldn't listen to anyone. On this one, he is right.
We went up Friday night and stayed at Mike's. We all tried to get
a good night sleep, but under the circumstances we didn't get as
much as what we had all hoped for. We were all
worried about the time. We had to catch the bus at 4:45am. We got
to the buses at 4:40 where we met Dan, our fabulous trainer and his wife.
Took the long, and I mean long, bus ride to where we would be starting the
race. Waited in the long porta john lines and
finished getting ready to run,
you know getting your i-pod to the right music,
stretching, and eating your last snack before the GU starts.
So at 7:00 we were off with cell phone in hand with Dave on call in case
he needed to come rescue me. Kari and Heidi told us goodbye, bid us good
luck and off they went. Sarah, Lin and I ran together, and
I was doing pretty good the first part of the race. We were holding
our pace pretty good, but by the time we hit mile 11 I was hurting. I was in
tears and told Sarah & Lin to go on. They asked if I was done, of course the
stubborn part of me said no. They both said unless you call it quits we are
not leaving you!! I can not tell you how wonderful it was to have those
two by my side cheering me on. Mile 15 was after the big hill! And I
did want to quit, my hip was really hurting, but I just couldn't quit!!
So Sarah and Lin kept on cheering having a great time. I think
I said to them I'm glad someone is enjoying this, enjoy it for me!!
Because by this point I am not enjoying, just telling myself I can do it.
The canyon was mostly down hill, and when we came out, we saw
Dave and the kids as well as him mom, and they were holding
posters cheering us on! Mile 23!! 3.2 to go, and I was still going.
There was no quitting now. Sarah and Lin would get a bit ahead of
me and then walk and cheer me on. The best cheerleaders EVER!!!
By the time we hit mile 24 I was still running, if you can call it running,
holding on to both Sarah and Lin's shoulders and they were pulling me,
literally. They kept telling me I could do it, we were almost done.
I could barely walk on my own. Dan called to tell us he was on his way,
he would meet up with us soon. He got to us about 24.5, and finished it with
us. I tell ya, he is the best trainer ever!! He pulled his hamstring and he still
finished it with us. (maybe he feels like this is all his fault!:) It is!!)
He took over the pulling me along so Rah and LIn could have a break.
Mile 25 dad and mom are there to cheer us on. Dad now gets on the other
side, and Lin and Rah ask if it is okay if they run. Of course it is!! They
have been amazing!! So on to the finish line they go!! The last mile is
extremely long, thank goodness I have dad and Dan pulling me. I had
the medic people in a golf cart ask if I needed a ride, it sounded good, but
no, I would walk. We finally cross the finish line!! All of my family
is there cheering for me!! What an emotional few minutes that was!!
I can't believe it is finally over, but at the same time think it is about time
that line is here!! Being able to accomplish this is truly amazing!!
But having my sister's there with me, and all of us doing it was even more
amazing!! I love you all!! Rah and Lin, I love you and I could never,
never have done this with out you two!! The best Cheerleaders EVER!!
Dad thanks so much!! At one point, he said he would carry me across
the finish line if he had too!! I love you very much!!
Thanks to everyone else for the much needed support!
After the race and every one got cleaned up we went to Chad and Melissa's
for lunch!! It was awesome!! Melis thanks for everything!!
Now, a few days later, the stiffness is mostly gone (I was stiff ALL over)
yes, my hip is still bothering me and walking is still difficult, but all in all
what a great experience. One that I would not change for anything.
It proves that we really can do anything we set out to do. No matter
what obstacles we face, whether it be a pulled muscle (two in my case),
pneumonia, many tears and lots of frustration, what ever it may be, we can
over come them. And we, I can accomplish
anything I put my mind too! A very good learning experience.
Just coming out of the canyon!!
Mile 23

Sarah & Lin at the finish line!
Finish Line! Finally!!

Heidi, Rah & Lin. Kari walked to us and crossed
the line with me.
Yes, bad picture! Good thing they can hold
me up!!
Dan, the man!!
Awesome Sista's
Karlie made posters for each of us! They
were so cute and so fun to have along the way!!
Thanks Karlie!!

I know this is a bit gross, but Heidi's toe
is the worst I have ever seen.
I lost another toenail, and will lose one more
but they look nothing like this!!

Toad's habitat

6 days until school is done
WHO HOO!!
This is the habitat that took a lot of time
to make. Good thing Dave did most of it!

Will he ever slow down??

I know I say this a lot, but it's true. Jaxson is a BEAST!!
My mom and dad were over at my house for dinner the
other day, and after about an hour of trying to keep up with
Jaxson my
mom said "I don't know how you do it! He is so
busy!!"
There are days that I wonder how I do it as well.
This is his newest thing, he loves to climb. Doesn't matter
what it is, he will climb it. He can't quite get down so he
will sit up on whatever he happens to be on and scream
until you come to rescue him!!
It makes me wonder if he will ever slow or calm down.

He is so proud of himself!!
I love these boys!!

Playing with cousins

Having Kari, her kids and Sarah here makes for lots of good laughs,
long hours (not that we mind) and fun memories.
They flew into the day before Mother's day and were here for a week.
We played the entire week. Just hanging out, shopping, eating, 4 wheeling,
running, staying in Ogden with Mike, wedding dress shopping (Lin is engaged!!
YEAH for her!!) running a marathon, it seems like we did
everything in the short amount of time they were here!! As always, the time
goes by way too fast, and then it is back to real life...sigh...
Here are just a few pics.
Sarah showing her moves!! The first day at
Mike's. We ran part of the course, preparing for
the marathon. I think they had more fun than
we did!
Dave and my mom took Kari's kids and my
kids to the dinosaur park while we ran.

Kass and Jaxson
They had lots of fun!!

Hanging out at Heidi's
Cool Jaxson

Kass can not give you a normal smile.
She is always pulling a face. She is so
stinkin cute!!
This is the face most male people get.
She is a man hater!! Obviously she is not
too fond of me either.

Brayden
Wedding dress shopping! I have pics of Lin
in her dress, and she is absolutely GORGEOUS!!
But, I want her permission before posting them.
Silly Asses (according to gma)
Showing off their muscles...too bad I didn't
catch Heidi kissing her guns!!
What a fun time it was!!

The 2 beasts!! I think it is a toss up...they both
are extremely beasty!!
(Jaxson may be a bit ahead though)
We had to separate them on the way home.
The were not even in the same car, that is how
Beasty they truly are!!
Mike riding Sand Mountain. He is the only
one with us that is brave enough to do it.
Gpa & Gma with the grand kids that came.
Garrett and Cody. When they were not riding
they were climbing. Can't hold still!

KMM, KSS take your pick, and Garrett

Hunter loving that he is old enough to ride by himself.
Rah & E-man!
Lin and the beast!
Mike loves his picture taken, as you can tell.
Thanks for being a good sport!!
I didn't ride because I didn't want to risk hurting myself
even more before the race. Thanks so much Dad, Mom &
Mike!! The boys had the best time!!

Mom's Day!

Mother's Day is such a fun day. I always get spoiled.
This year it started a few days early. Cody came home from
school one day and told me he was going to give me a necklace.
I asked him if it was a surprise and he said yes, but I didn't know what
the necklace looked like so it was ok. He is the sweetest boy!!
The next day he brought home a very cute shrinky dink necklace with
a drawing of me and him, a flower and a heart. He was beaming
when he gave me the necklace and asked if I would wear it everyday.
He also gave me a card that said MOM. He was very excited that if you
turned it upside down it spelled WOW!! He is so funny. The picture is
of the cute necklace, and what is left of my MOM card. Jaxson got
a hold of it before I could rescue it.
Ethan made chocolate covered preztels and strawberries
with a cute mom poem at preschool.
And Dave gave me a book, and a Blendtec blender!!
I am so EXCITED!!
We went to my mom's and had dinner with my
sister's. It was a lot of fun!
